The entire cabinet of East Devon District Council has resigned. Since the last elections for the council in 2019, the make-up of the council has been:
- 20 Conservatives
- 19 Independents (from a variety of true independents and independent groups)
- 11 East Devon Alliance
- 8 Liberal Democrats
- 2 Greens
The group of independents have, according to a Radio Exe report today, struggled to work together. It now looks that an Independent Progressive Group has been formed by some members of the cabinet. An alliance of independents, Liberal Democrats and Green councillors now looks the most likely to take control of the council.
