Councillor David Hennigan has left the cabinet of Ashfield District Council and has been removed from the Ashfield Independents. The group took control of the council in 2019 and Leader of the Council Jason Zadrozny appointed David Hennigan as Cabinet Member for Corporate Communications and Governance. He will now sit as a true independent.
A number of changes have been made by the Leader to his top team. New portfolios have been allocated and Councillor Rachel Madden has joined the Cabinet.
The new look Cabinet is:
- Leader of the Council – Jason Zadrozny
- Deputy Leader and Housing – Tom Hollis (was Health and Leisure)
- Deputy Leader and Community Safety – Helen-Ann Smith (was Streets, Parks and Town Centres)
- Health and Leisure – Kier Barsby (was Housing)
- Customer Services and IT – Samantha Deakin
- Finance – Rachel Madden (new appointment)
- Streets, Parks and Town Centres – David Martin (was Finance)
- Place, Planning and Regeneration – Matthew Relf
- Corporate Communications and Governance – Daniel Williamson (was Community Safety)
- Regulatory Services – John Wilmott
Councillor Hennigan has represented the Central and New Cross ward since 2019. The ward encompasses the centre of Sutton-in-Ashfield, in the north eastern area of the Ashfield district, close to its border with Mansfield.
